FREE Desktop Calendar

by @ 9:44 pm. Edit This Filed under Computer Software

Rainlendar is a small and compact desktop calendar that comes with some powerful features under the hood. It integrates nicely with your desktop wallpaper (several skins to choose from) and allows interactive access to selected dates, just click on a date to add an appointment or reminder. It also comes with a ToDo list that can optionally be displayed or maintained hidden. The calendar automatically highlights dates that have appointments and you can switch between months via keyboard shortcuts. In addition, Rainlendar can display your existing Outlook appointments (read-only), offers message alarms, and can also display multiple months, or the entire year. There is also an optional server available that allows you to synchronize Rainlendar installations across a network. Download it here.

it’s very COOL and FREE too!

DOS to Linux Cheat Sheet

by @ 7:42 pm. Edit This Filed under Computer Software

Many Linux commands you type at a shell prompt are not that different from the commands you would type either in MS-DOS or in Windows (from the MS-DOS prompt). In fact, some commands are identical.

Nashville Day 2

by @ 4:40 pm. Edit This Filed under Work

I was able to really sink my teeth into some real live southern food as my company took us all out for dinner at a place called the “Cock of the Walk”. you can check out the menu here.

I had the fried catfish with fried pickles, greens, pickled onions, cole slaw and fries.

Here is Shaun before dinner!

I was really interested in the “Silverware” below. LOL.

The Ryman Auditorium first opened its doors in 1892 as a vision of Captain Thomas G. Ryman. With the coming of the Grand Ole Opry show in 1943, the Ryman found its identity as the Mother Church of Country Music. In 1974, the Opry moved to its current home by the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center and left the Ryman vacant. It was not until twenty years later in 1994 that the Ryman was restored to be the national showplace that it is today. Musicians ranging from Roy Acuff to James Brown and Patsy Cline to Sheryl Crow have performed on the Ryman stage, making it a historical as well as a current-day icon for people everywhere.

Downtown Nashville’s Bell South offices, nicknamed the “Batman Building”. I’m told it looks like Batman at night.

A Single Man’s Guide to TV Dinners

by @ 9:40 pm. Edit This Filed under Uncategorized

It’s Monday evening. You’ve had a hard day at work. You’ve managed to make it home through grueling traffic jams. You open your freezer and what do you see……….? Nothing?!?

Not a problem. You tool down to the local supermarket and survey the great wasteland known as the TV dinner aisle. It is here that confusion, curiosity, and ignorance merge together to cloud the ‘bachelorean’ sense of judgment.
The following guide is provided as a public service to my fellow comrades…

A solid rating system for a variety of frozen meals.

Naked But Wearing Clothes

by @ 9:26 pm. Edit This Filed under Visual Arts

Pictures from my inbox. The pictures themselves aren’t fake. I’m pretty sure of that. But they show a hoax of a kind. This is the caption that accompanies them:

“This woman is actually walking down the street with no “real” clothes — only those painted on her. The passersby didn’t give her a second look because the paint looked so much like clothing. YES, she is naked!”

I’ll give links to the photos, not thumbnails, as these pictures probably aren’t safe for work since the woman is naked (except for her shoes), though she does look like she’s wearing clothes, which is the entire point. I was trying to figure out what city she’s in, but nothing looks familiar.
