If you’re getting rid of your current phone, get the good karma points of recycling it without the worry that someone might steal your sensitive data. In addition to the Cell Phone Data Eraser, Wireless Recycling can help you find cell phone donation centers by zip code. If you can’t find one near you, I’m sure you local Goodwill would be more than happy to take it off your hands.
You never really understand how extreme the situation may be until you see a little heat map action. As we all know, gas prices are high, rising, and will most likely continue to rise. GasBuddy.com has a great visual aid which reflects the nationwide gas prices as a giant heat map with mouseover effects for details.
If you are tired of the GAS situation, please leave a comment so I may compile a future posting/email to some choice Government/Oil Company/Consumer Groups, Don’t be shy! Let the mudslinging begin——————————————————————————————->
I’ve run across an awesome web service for all of my basic to advanced image editing needs. The service, which goes by the name of PXN8 offers users a handful of editing options including:
* Zoom +/-
* Fill Light
* Cropping
* Resizing
* Rotating
* Spirit Level
* Red Eye Reduction
* Teeth Whitening
All of the above within a web based service. No need to wait 10 - 30 seconds for Photoshop to fire up. Rather than loading your favorite image editing software for basic touch ups, why not utilize the web? Upload your images directly from your desktop, or pull images directly off of any web page.
The as-yet-untitled “Star Trek” feature, the 11th since 1979, is aiming for a fall 2008 release through Paramount Pictures, the Viacom Inc. unit looking to restore its box-office luster under new management, the trade paper said.
Daily Variety said the action would center on the early days of “Star Trek” characters James T. Kirk and Mr. Spock, including their first meeting at Starfleet Academy and first outer-space mission.
I feel another countdown timer will be posted soon.
Youmeworks.com has some advice for keeping your cool and dealing with stressful situations such as arguments.
When Abraham Lincoln was in the White House, he experienced stress, and that is an understatement if I’ve ever made one! Soldiers were getting slaughtered by the tens of thousands and Lincoln was the one sending them to their tragic deaths. He was a deeply empathetic man, so this tremendous slaughter caused him immense despair and sadness and pain. But it needed to be done, and decisions needed to be made every day. To keep himself calm enough to deal with it, he often said to himself, this too shall pass. He used this phrase as a kind of mantra. He was able to maintain his rationality and carry out his duties at a crucial time in history - largely by reminding himself again and again that whatever is happening is temporary.
A key technique for staying calm during an argument. Article. [youmeworks.com]
Information Week has an article on fixing a non-booting Windows install by running a relatively simple Rebuild command.
The Rebuild command—technically a software “switch” used with XP’s Bootcfg tool—automatically searches a hard drive for valid startup information and files, letting you choose the correct ones. This has the effect of removing and repairing any references to whatever invalid, missing, or corrupt startup information was preventing normal booting.
This method should work with these errors: “Missing or corrupt HAL.DLL,” “Invalid Boot.Ini,” or “Windows could not start…” If you’ve ever seen one of these heart-stopping error messages when you’ve tried booting up Windows XP, the Rebuild command could be a major life saver.

It’s no secret that the point at which a printer tells you your $40 ink cartridge is empty (and prompty stops letting you print anything) has little relation to when it’s actually empty, especially if you’ve refilled it yourself, and in the spirit of letting you get the most out of the fortune you’re spending on ink, here’s some tips for Epson and HP owners: SSC Service Utility is a free Windows app for Epson printers that lets you freeze or reset your printer’s internal ink counters to fool your printer into thinking the cartridge is full again. For HP owners things aren’t so simple. Methods vary by printer and cartridge type and many of them require rolling up your sleeves and fiddling with the cartridge itself, but Mr. Ink Jet (an ink refill kit vendor) has some tips.
Create a one-time secure web page for a recipient: Will Self Destruct.
You can create a secure anonymous email message to a friend or colleague by entering their e-mail address and the message, i.e. sending a password or other sensitive information that you don’t want other people to see.
The recipient will receive an e-mail with a link to a one-time secure web page which they will be able to view once and only once. Once the url has been accessed the message is deleted.
It really works! Poof! Gone forever!
Now if you will excuse me, I have some choice words for certain individuals.
