Text editing is a dry subject, and you probably think you know everything you’ve ever wanted to know about it. This 2 hour video explains everything you ever didn’t want to know about text, and if you can sit through it, is full of smart ideas.
Warning: If you can sit through a two hour presentation on text editing, I will insist on calling you a big nerd.
Managing a group of people can be tough, especially when summer rolls around and employees start gearing up for vacation. Web site WhosOff attempts to streamline vacation management with a series of free tools for tracking and approving workplace time off. Employees can log into WhosOff to request vacation days, while administrators of your WhosOff account approve vacation requests and manage employees and their vacation entitlement. WhosOff may be overkill for some, but if you’ve ever dealt with flimsy time off management at work, this could be a useful tool.

I have my reasons for not upgrading to Vista. That statement alone may start a riot! But nontheless I’m sticking with Windows XP SP2 on both my Home and work computers.
The only possible reason I would even think about making the switch to Vista is the new “desktop instant search” feature.
XP and earlier versions of Windows have never had a decent search feature. Nothing that is until Google desktop came out, but proved to be a drain on resources.
Enter the solution for all us XP users out there:
Microsoft’s own Windows Desktop Search
Windows Desktop Search (WDS) is the software that enables users to quickly find and retrieve e-mail messages, documents and files on a PC and company network. Windows Desktop Search is included with your Microsoft Windows License.
Windows desktop search is built-in to Windows Vista. If you are running Windows Vista, you do not need to download this software.
Windows Desktop Search offers key benefits for end users, including:
•Find Information Fast: You can find the information you need from the thousands of documents and e-mail located on your PC in seconds, improving your productivity.
•Search Across Many File Types: Finds results from common file types (such as e-mail, Office documents, images, video, .pdf) with one tool.
•Better Together with Office 2007: Office 2007 takes advantage of the technology in WDS 3.01 that enables instant search functionality in Microsoft Office Outlook.
•Search from Familiar Interfaces: Enables you to quickly initiate searches from the Windows desktop, Outlook or Internet Explorer, offering familiarity, convenience and ease of use.
•Privacy Protection: Adheres to Windows security and privacy model and doesn’t index sensitive data such as temporary Internet files and cache.
After 8 days of fun in the sun, (yes, July in Florida is very sunny!) vacation 2007 has finally come to an end. If you would like to view any of the 478 pictures, just click on the cute little Pink Flamingo .
Some of the places we visited with reviews are as follows:
Disney MGM Studios - A big thumbs up! As usual, typical Disney hospitality. Great rides such as the “Tower of Terror” and “Rock and Roll Roller Coaster” and the BEST part was we won the coveted Disney “Dream Fast Pass” to jump to the front of the line on many of the rides! If you aren’t familiar with the term “Fast Pass” just make sure you get them.

Disney Epcot - Thumbs up but not as good as MGM Studios. Maybe that was because we didn’t win the “Fast Passes” but we did encounter “Elton” a friendly Disney employee that hooked us up with a back stage pass to “Mission Space” and a Fast pass ticket to any ride in the park.
I didn’t think the rides in Future World were that great, but really enjoyed my visit to the “World Showcase” part of Epcot. The Fireworks show was the best I had ever experienced! Regrettably, this is the part of the trip were I forgot to bring along my battery for my camera!
Universal Studios - Overpriced tickets!, The theme park side of the park “Islands of Adventure” was way too crowded, the employees needed a lesson in Disney hospitality, and the air conditioner was poor while standing in line for over an hour at “The Hulk”, the best ride in the park! The Universal Studios side of the park was quite enjoyable. We saw the 3-D version of “The Terminator” and “Twister” which featured a front row seat to a real tornado experience!

Kennedy Space Center - One of the most enjoyable, educational parts of our trip! I was completely blown away by the immense size of the Saturn V rocket on display. I’m still in awe. I’m very satisfied with the way they have tours set up at the center as you may purchase tickets for either a fully guided tour or a go at your own pace tour. The only part of Kennedy we didn’t care for that much was the food. (Maybe the stuff the astronauts munch on is better?)
| From Orlando Vacat… |
Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede - A hidden Orlando gem! Dinner and a show for a great price from Dolly Parton. I never heard Justin hootin and hollarin with such a great big smile on his face before!
| From Orlando Vacat… |
Gatorland - A huge Thumbs UP! Gatorland was one of the best days spent in Orlando! They have literally “thousands” of Gators to mingle with all over the place! They also have a free Water Park to cool off for both the kids and adults alike. The people were great as well as the presentation.

Beachtree Villas - Our home away from home! Great people, great service, Highly recommended!

Zeitgeist The Movie is a film exploring the relationship between Christianity, 9/11 and the Federal Reserve Bank. It was released in 2007 on Google Video and is available for free distribution. It is achieving notoriety very quickly, as of July 8th 2007 the movie link shows 315,408 hits.
Divided into three parts, (Part I: “The Greatest Story Ever Told”, Part II: “All The World’s A Stage”, and Part III: “Don’t Mind The Men Behind The Curtain”), Zeitgeist is designed to prompt the audience into questioning their own beliefs on the subjects of US involvement in the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Christian theology, the Federal Reserve System, and the decreasing status of personal freedoms in the United States of America due to introductions of laws and organizations such as The Department of Homeland Security and the Patriot Act.
It’s long (almost 2 hours) and you have to have an open mind to view the movie but…. information is power! or at least it’s information that gives you a different perspective. Like anything else found in the media or on the internet, “Caveat emptor” even if it’s for FREE!

Eva Cassidy an unknown vocalist has gained notoriety 10 years after her death.
Here she is singing what a wonderful world
ABC Dateline’s Eva Cassidy Biography “The Eva Cassidy Story”
I found her story interesting and her voice to be compared with the likes of Karen Carpenter and others.
This one is my favorites, Fields of Gold by Sting sung by Eva. I read somewhere that Sting actually heard this recording and had tears in his eyes.
Eva should be recognized? You decide.
